Processing and Printing Angiograms

Film processing and printing has traditionally been a part of Ophthalmic Diagnostic Photography. While the use of film is diminishing rapidly in ophthalmology, it continues to be used in many institutions throughout the world.

Performing angiography with film presents some interesting problems. Due to the very low light levels available for exposure of the film during fluorescein angiography, special processing is required. The film is usually allowed to remain in the developer longer than normal to compensate for these low light levels.

Some ophthalmologists prefer to make interpretations directly from the negatives while others prefer to view positives. Converting the film negatives into positives requires photographic printing, either on large sheets of film or on photographic paper.
