OPS Web Site History

In 1994 Joseph W. Warnicki at the Eye And Ear Institute of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center launched the first web page for the Ophthalmic Photographers' Society. The simple page contained a few ophthalmic images and provided basic contact information for the Society. In addition to being the principal founder of the OPS Web Page, Joe formed one of the most valuable resources for ophthalmic photographers: Optimal. Optimal began as an email discussion list dedicated to ophthalmic photography where photographers can find answers to questions and meet others from around the world who share a common interest. In 2005 the discussion list evolved to the Optimal Message Board.

Paul R. Montague assumed the duties of OPS Webmaster in 1996, moving the site to the University of Iowa. Paul has called upon the vast talents in the OPS to provide educational and informational articles on Ophthalmic Diagnostic Photography for presentation on the web. In 2001, the site was redesigned and moved away from the University of Iowa to a commercial site hosting company.

In 2006, the OPS Marketing Committee employed Dave Titensor of Titan Design to provide the current page design. The OPS formed a Web Committee who implemented the design and are responsible for page content.
